The Complete Anti-Blemish Skincare Guide
Teen breakouts, persistent adult acne, and hormonal blemishes brought on by menopause each have a different root cause and each calls for a different approach. Here's the science, and the complete at-home routine
Breakouts don't stop the day you leave your teenage years, and they rarely have a single cause. Whether you're managing your first blemishes at fifteen, ongoing adult acne at thirty-five, or new hormonal breakouts brought on by perimenopause, the underlying skin science is different at every stage. That's why the right skincare routine matters, with products designed to stop blemishes at their source.
Why Blemishes Happen — At Every AgeAcne mostly occurs during periods of excess sebum production, a buildup of dead skin cells and oil inside the follicle, often accompanied by bacteria and inflammation. What triggers that chain reaction, however, looks completely different depending on age and hormonal stage.
Teen Acne
Puberty & Rising Androgens
Acne in teens is caused a surge in androgens enlarges the sebaceous glands and significantly increases oil production during puberty. Skin cell turnover also speeds up unevenly, so dead cells and sebum become trapped inside the follicle more easily. This causes oily T-zones and inflammatory breakouts concentrated on the forehead, nose, and chin.
Adult Acne
Stress, Sebum & Barrier Disruption
Persistent acne in adults is rarely about hygiene, and more-so chronic stress (which raises cortisol and oil production), a compromised skin barrier from over-exfoliating or harsh actives, hormonal fluctuations tied to the menstrual cycle, or comedogenic skincare/makeup. It typically clusters around the chin and mouth.
Menopausal & Hormonal Acne
Estrogen Decline & Androgen Dominance
"The goal is to rebalance sebum production at the source. Over-drying acne-prone skin only signals the glands to produce more oil in response."
This is a targeted, seven-product system designed specifically for blemish-prone, seborrheic, and combination skin. Its affective for teen breakouts, adult acne, or hormonal shifts. Each product was crafted & clinically tested by Biologique Recherche, a results-driven French skincare institution.

Why am I still breaking out in my 30s and 40s if I never had acne as a teenager?
Adult-onset acne is common and is typically driven by stress, hormonal fluctuations, a compromised skin barrier, or comedogenic products rather than the androgen surge that causes teen acne. It often shows up along the jawline and chin and responds well to gentle, barrier-supportive purifying routines like this one rather than harsh, stripping treatments.
Is this routine safe for teenage skin?
Yes. Lait S.R., Lotion P50, and Masque Vivant are formulated for combination, oily, and acne-prone skin at any age. For younger or more reactive skin, we recommend starting with Lotion P50 two to three times a week and building up tolerance gradually before daily use.
Why does perimenopause and menopause cause new breakouts?
As estrogen levels decline, the relative balance shifts toward androgens, which can stimulate the sebaceous glands even without a rise in testosterone itself. This often triggers jawline breakouts alongside dehydration, since menopausal skin can be oily and dry in different areas simultaneously, which is why this routine pairs purifying, sebum-regulating actives with a cream that won't strip the barrier.
How long does it take to see results from this routine?
Most clients notice less oiliness and clearer texture within one to two weeks of consistent use. It's common to experience a short "purge phase" in the first one to two weeks of introducing Masque Vivant and Lotion P50, as the products decongest existing buildup. This typically resolves as skin balances out.
Can I use both Serum Complexe Iribiol and Serum Dermopore together?
Yes. Biologique Recherche serums are designed to be layered or "cocktailed." Complexe Iribiol focuses on sebum regulation and healing, while Dermopore focuses on visibly tightening pores and refining texture. Together, they address two of the most common concerns in blemish-prone skin.
Will Crème Dermopurifiante dry out my skin?
No. While it has mattifying and astringent properties to reduce excess oil and refine pores, it's formulated to maintain hydration and will not strip the epidermis, which is important since over-drying acne-prone skin often triggers even more oil production in response.
How often should I use Masque Vivant?
We recommend 2 to 4 times per week for best results, applied after cleansing and your Lotion P50 step, left on for 15 minutes. Many clients with more resilient skin choose to use it daily as part of their evening routine.
Do hormonal breakouts require a different routine than regular acne?
The core purifying and sebum-regulating steps stay the same, but hormonal and menopausal breakouts often benefit from extra attention to barrier support and hydration alongside blemish control, since these skin types are prone to both oiliness and dehydration at once. If breakouts are severe, cystic, or unresponsive to topical care, we also recommend speaking with a dermatologist to rule out an underlying hormonal condition.
