Changed my skin for the better
A little goes a long way in this super moisturising cream. Love how gentle it is on the skin.
The hype is real!
LED Light Therapy skincare treatments may sound like something from a science fiction movie to the uninitiated, but they are actually a marvelous, modern way to give your skin a much-needed boost. LED Light Therapy skin treatments aren’t just for wrinkles, either. They offer treatment options for a whole slew of different skincare concerns, from dark spots to acne and everything in between. There are also options to customize and receive a combination of treatments based on your skin’s needs. But what do you do when you don’t have the time to make it in for a treatment as often as your skin demands?
The answer is to bring those benefits home in a way you can use at your leisure. The DRx SpectraLite™ FaceWare Pro LED face mask from Dr. Dennis Gross, MD is an FDA-cleared device designed to provide some impressive skin benefits from the comfort of home. Pro home care by Dr Dennis Gross. Lights on, years off, delivers glowing skin. But is it really worth all the hype? In a word: yes!
What It Is
To those uninitiated into the world of specialty skincare treatments, the DRx SpectraLite™ FaceWare Pro might look like a strange Iron Man face mask with flashing lights. It’s so much more than that — obviously, or there wouldn’t be so much hype surrounding this LED-light face mask! In the simplest terms, this is a facial mask meant to help improve the appearance of facial skin. But this is no single-use, ingredient-laden sheet mask or paste. This facial mask uses LED lights to provide an array of skin-boosting benefits. It is reusable — in fact, it’s meant to be used daily for the best effectiveness. With just a few minutes once a day, the DRx SpectraLite™ FaceWare Pro LED face mask can give you some serious skincare benefits, the likes of which are typically only available through medical spa treatments.
This LED-light face mask isn’t just a beauty mask, it’s a medical-grade, therapeutic face mask. The colored lights aren’t just for looks; they give this LED therapy mask it’s skin-boosting abilities. Within the mask, there are 100 red LED lights and 62 blue LEDs. The mask can be set to run just the red LEDs, just the blue LEDs, or a combination of the two sets. It all depends on the benefits you seek for your skin. Those benefits include:
When both colors of LEDs are used in combination, this LED beauty mask works to provide all of those listed benefits at the same time.
To use it, simply position the mask as directed, adjust the supporting straps, and turn it on. Select your preferred treatment — red LEDs, blue LEDs, or both — and kick back for three minutes. Yes, that’s really all it takes. The programmed cycle will run on its own, so all you really have to do is remove the mask when it’s done. Use once a day for the best effectiveness.
This isn’t just another flash-in-the-pan fad beauty tool. The proof is in the results. According to Dr. Dennis Gross, two separate clinical trials showed some pretty impressive results. 97 percent of participants in a ten-week clinical study saw overall improvement in fine lines, wrinkles, and skin tone after daily use during the course of the study. Further, 97 percent of participants in a two-week study saw overall improvement in their acne with daily use of this LED therapy mask.
But the reasons for effectiveness don’t stop at just the clinical trial results. This LED beauty mask is FDA-cleared, so you can trust that it has been through rigorous testing and will be held to a certain standard. Part of that standard is technology that does what it claims. In this case, the science behind Dr. Gross’ LED therapy mask has been proven outside of the skincare realm.
This LED-light face mask uses the same sort of technology as that used during NASA studies to grow plants. The LEDs in the study “stimulated cells’ natural production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate)” which is an organic chemical that appears in all living things and is what provides energy to cells. Essentially, the LEDs encourage growth. In human cells — specifically in skin cells — that means encouraging the production of collagen. As you may already be aware, collagen is what is responsible for a complexion’s evenness as well as the growth (or lack) of fine lines and wrinkles. As the body ages, it naturally produces less collagen over time. Dr. Gross’s LED light therapy mask uses technology designed to stimulate collagen production, which is where so many of the skin-boosting benefits come from.
While this LED therapy mask isn’t a magic wand designed to wave away every blemish instantly, it can offer some serious benefits — and wave away blemishes and signs of aging over time. You may see some results quickly, especially in regard to acne, but you’ll want to give it several weeks of daily use to see the real magic happen. Order your DRx SpectraLite™ FaceWare Pro from Paul Labrecque Salon & Spa today to experience the skin-boosting benefits for yourself! Glamour Magazine just awarded this super serum the "All Time Best Natural Beauty Product"! Our staff and customers at Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa all agree. It is not every day a beauty product like this comes along with so many raves reviews and glowing endorsements. This serum is special.
Vintner's Daughter Active Botanical Serum was created and formulated by winery owner and entrepreneur April Gargiulo. Her passion to formulate an all-natural serum was born out of the desire to have the finest quality, multi-correctional serum that was also toxin-free. Disappointed with all-natural products that ceded results for a smell-good formula or weren’t, in fact, “all-natural,” April used her years of fine wine making principles of quality and refinement to create Vintner's Daughter Active Botanical Serum.
Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum is a multi-correctional phytoactive treatment for the face formulated to deliver the most powerful skin beautifying nutrition. Active Botanical Serum is 100 percent natural and formulated without added sulphates, parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, PEGs, or SLSs. The quality results of this serum make it a must-have, which is why the Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa has incorporated it into our services and product line.
The heart of the Active Botanical Serum is the signature Phyto Radiance Infusion, a time-honored combination of the world’s most nutrient-dense whole plants like nettle, dandelion and alfalfa. Phyto Radiance Infusion teems with skin brightening and balancing phytonutrients and skin firming phytoceramides. These powerful active botanical ingredients work deep in the dermal layers to reveal more radiant and healthy skin.
Vintner's Daughter starts with the world’s most nutrient dense, organic, whole plants and honors them through a methodical formulation process that extracts their full spectrum of activity and nutrition. Combined the serum provides multiple benefits for glowing radiant skin.
Alpha and beta-carotene, carotenoids, lutein, lycopene, flavonoids and the mineral selenium are powerful skin defenders and free-radical fighting agents protecting the skin from environmental stress while improving cellular function.
Ultra critical vitamins A, D, E, K are known to build collagen, smooth, brighten, repair, heal and protect the skin from aging.
Iron, magnesium, silica, sulfur, calcium, copper, potassium and zinc strengthen the skin while allowing vitamins, phytonutrients, fatty acids and antioxidants to penetrate the skin more effectively.
These plant-based skin-restoring nutrients help heal and soothe photodamage, inflammation and oxidative stress to reduce the signs of aging.
Fatty acids, including omegas 3, 6, 7, and 9, hydrate, soothe, help to retain collagen and strengthen the skin’s barrier function.
The benefits for your skin are unlike any other. Vintner's Daughter Active Botanical Serum restores balance and natural radiance; fights the signs of aging and stimulates cellular turnover; increases skin elasticity, clarity and tightens pores; reduces inflammation and redness; brightens, smooths and repairs the skin's barrier; protects against free-radical damage; And is suitable to treat acne-prone skin types.
It comes as no surprise Glamour Magazine awarded Vintner's Daughter Active Botanical Serum "All Time Best Natural Beauty Product" for their 2018 Best of Beauty awards.

Whether it’s because of over-processing or the drying winter winds, no one enjoys the feeling of dry, frizzy hair. But, if you’re a redhead — by birthright or by choice — those frizzy hair woes may be worse than the average brunette or blonde ever experiences. If this is a struggle you experience, not to worry. Adrienne and Stephanie Vendetti of How To Be A Redhead, both natural redheads, visited the Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa in New York City for some frizz help. Their experience speaks for itself.
Whether yours is a fiery red or a sweet strawberry blonde, red hues are some of the most appealing and beautiful shades for hair. The problem, as we mentioned above, is the frizz. The dye process needed to take your hair to red can often be more harsh than going either brown or blonde. The result may be a bright, bold red, but it’s probably also going to leave you with locks that need a lot of additional love to ease the frizz that comes from all the processing.
Even more interesting (though probably pretty annoying) is how natural red hair grows. Natural redheads have hair that is more coarse and frizzy. In addition, individual strands are thicker than those of brunettes or blondes, which makes up for the fact that redheads often have less hair. The overall result is that it means natural redheads are more susceptible to frizz issues than other hair types. It can also mean an ongoing struggle to fight the frizz without straightening away your beautiful curls.
In order to find a more lasting way to smooth out frizzy red hair without losing their natural curl, the Vendetti sisters visited the Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa for some redhead tailored hair care. In 2004, the salon was named the best salon for redheads by New York Magazine and continues to be at the fore of redhead-friendly treatments. Paul’s recommendation for ditching the frizz and enhancing those natural curls? A keratin hair straightening treatment. At first glance, we understand if you did a double-take. A straightening treatment for redheads who don’t want to lose their curls? Yes! Just bear with us.
The idea behind keratin treatments is to condition and reconstruct each strand of hair and leave it sleek, smooth, soft, and shiny. While the treatment does involve straightening your hair initially, it won’t stay that way — only the hair smoothing results will. The duo recorded a video of the process, complete with before and after images, to show you the effects of the Paul Labrecque Salon keratin straightening treatment. The video explains how the treatment works, and shows Paul going through segment by segment to ensure every strand gets sufficient attention. After a keratin treatment, it’s advised you leave your hair alone for two to four days to allow the treatment to really take root. Once the initial few days have passed, you can wash, dry, and style as usual, though you’ll want to avoid salt water and shampoos with sodium laureth sulfate as both can remove the keratin more quickly. Be sure to watch the end of the video because both sisters show off their freshly washed, product-free hair. Even while damp, the difference is clear that the keratin treatment provided lasting de-frizzing without inhibiting curl.
Fortunately, keratin hair straightening treatments aren’t restricted to those with red hair, natural or otherwise. If you’re looking for a way to tame your frizz in an enduring way, contact the team at the Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa in New York City to schedule your keratin treatment!

Glamour magazine has long been a beauty staple, both in the U.S. and around the globe. What started as Glamour of Hollywood in 1939 has become a global source for everything from the best beauty advice to the latest information on female-focused social change. In the decades since its inception, Glamour has spread across the globe and has versions in more than a dozen countries. By this point, it has become a staple for women (and men) around the world. So, who better to provide the best in beauty each year?
Each year, generally in early spring, Glamour releases their picks for the best in makeup, hair care, and skin care products. The list of products is curated and judged by a list of who’s who in beauty — some of whom write for Glamour, but many of whom work with celebrities, have mass followings on social media, or are owners of renowned salons/spas/dermatology clinics. All told, it’s a diverse mix of judges to help ensure a diverse mix of products make the list.
The Beauty Awards strive to provide the answer for the best product for a thorough range of different categories. Find the best foundation or lipstick, both designer and drugstore, on their list so shoppers of all budgets can find the right products. The full list includes selections for just about every makeup staple, hair care products for different types of hair, and skincare products for all skin types.
As makeup pros and aestheticians will tell you, a vital part of any beauty routine is proper skincare. Glamour’s suggestion this year? Head to Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa in New York City (or to our online store) for the Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 skincare products. Glamour specifically highlights the Lotion P50 toner for its positive effects, but they also give kudos to the brand as a whole for being able to, “exfoliate, tone, hydrate, brighten, protect, and balance pH.” Those are some powerful effects, according to Pierre Samotin and the Glamour team.

Firm, tone and slim down down before your big day with the Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 "Nouveau Seaweed Wrap" at Paul Labrecque. As seen in New York Magazine's Wedding Spring/Summer 2018 Edition "checklist" this is a must have body treatment for the bride to be looking to show off her glowing skin.
The cult French toner Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 is now being offered as a body treatment: The Lotion P 50 Slimming Algae Body Wrap at Paul Labrecque Salon & Skincare Spa. It begins with a P50 application and full body scrub followed by a lymphatic massage of the abdomen (this technique, also known as lymphatic drainage, is designed to increase the flow of the lymphatic system and flush out stagnant fluid). Finally, a foamy whip of algae paste, said to release toxins, is slathered on before you are folded into a hot blanket. The result is less bloating smoother and more even skin tone. The P50 Body Wrap has gained a following among Brides-To-Be. "When I got out, I felt lighter", says future bride Rica Silverio. "My dress is backless, and the exfoliation made my skin smoother."

Astrology and zodiac signs can help you learn all sorts of information about yourself and, with some help from an astrologer, use that information to make better decisions. Not sure what the new year will bring? Turn to astrology to gain some insight! Whether it’s decisions about your job or changes in your relationship, astrology can help you dig into your life and make those changes. If you’re looking for ways to make a positive change in your life this year, start with some sage advice. Brides Magazine contributing astrologer Lumi Pelinku, also a Paul Labrecque hair stylist, offers her advice on resolutions to make with your sweetie to benefit your relationship based on your astrological sign. (And don’t forget to check back to Pelinku’s previous Brides contribution about choosing a wedding hairstyle based on your sign). Here are her couples resolution suggestions based on your sign:
According to Pelinku, now is the time for Aries to sort out their intentions in terms of romantic relationships. Jupiter offers positive help for commitment and devotion, so use the coming year to decide if you and your love are in it for the long haul.
Jupiter will be influencing Taurus until November; combined with Venus in retrograde, now is a great time for Taurus to evaluate what they want in regards to long-term relationships. Talk with your sweetie to set specific, attainable goals together in the coming year.
In the coming year, Jupiter will affect two big areas for Gemini: career and fitness. Embrace the self-exploration and focus on your mental and physical wellbeing. Arrange for regular fitness dates with your sweetheart to make that positive journey toward wellness together.
For Cancer, the coming year will have a heavy emphasis on luck in creative and romantic pursuits. March, especially, will be a time of high creative energy and October could be an excellent time to start making plans toward growing your family! This year is the year to resolve to have more open and honest conversations about plans for your family.
This year will have a big focus on the domestic side of life for Leo. This year could be the year to buy a house, grow your family, or otherwise focus your attention on family goals. Resolve to spend more time with your sweetie’s family as well as your own and focus on your life together.
This year’s theme, for Virgo, is fun! Jupiter’s influence will bring confident communications with the potential for a lot of positive influence. If you’re looking for a resolution to share with your love, focus on short trips and companionship; spend time together and enjoy the communication that comes from your adventures.
Libras, this is your year to focus on finances — especially in regard to business ventures. Make plans, and the luck of Jupiter will be there. For a shared resolution, this is the year to create a financial plan and stick with it, no matter what the eventual goal.
The coming year is one full of confidence for Scorpio, which makes it the perfect time to delve deeper into your personal need and passions. Be open and honest with your loved ones and, for a couple resolution, focus on communication to express your needs and find happiness together.
The teacher, Saturn, has recently left your sign, so life should become a bit more light-hearted for Sagittarius. This year is a good year to let go of your hold on past relationships; focus on now and the future both on your own and with your sweetie.
A lot is happening for Capricorn this year. Saturn comes home to its own sign, Uranus will spark excitement from mid-May to early November, and a solar eclipse in July brings themes of invested commitment and change in your love life. As a resolution, be open-minded and positive about the changes coming your way.
This year, work/life balance is the theme of the year. Jupiter will have some major effects on finances and work goals, which may influence your relationship. If you feel any hesitation, take a step back and reevaluate your relationship goals. Both with your sweetheart and solo, focus on your career, but don’t let your relationship suffer.
The name of the game for Pisces this year is self-realization and growth. As you focus on learning more about yourself, opportunities for love will also increase, so focus on yourself and be open to what may come.
We all crave radiant, blemish-free skin. Skin that looks healthy, toned, even, and vibrant can have almost the same effect as finding the mythical Fountain of Youth. So, of course, proper skin care is important, and especially care for your facial skin. If you want youthful, vibrant-looking skin, there’s no need for injections or a facelift; better skin care techniques can make all the difference. The hardest part can be wading through the myriad options to find ones that truly work. This is where Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa can help.
Want to know something shocking? According to The Purist’s Beth Landman, one of the latest facial treatments for healthier, more youthful looking skin involves mild electrical currents in combination with Biologique Recherche skincare products. Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa’ Micheline Reboh was featured as one of the foremost providers of this new facial technique. In her article, Landman details this new facial process, called “remodeling,” and the benefits thereof.
Stop worrying about injections, a facelift, or other invasive procedures to enjoy more youthful looking skin. The Bio Sculpt Lift & Firm Facial at Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa is a non-invasive alternative to help you enjoy rejuvenated skin without needles or surgery. And, because it starts with products from Parisian skincare company Biologique Recherche, the results of each facial are made to last far beyond the 60 or 90 minute facial session.
The “remodeling” process starts with Biologique Recherche products, all of which are designed to reach your skin on a cellular level to provide better benefits and are backed by more than 40 years of effective product creation. The specific Biologique Recherche products used during your facial will vary, as each session is customized to your skin’s specific needs. Highly concentrated Biologique Recherche products combine with the Lotion P50 all-in-one toner/exfoliator treatment to remove impurities, tone, hydrate, and nourish your skin. Minute currents of electricity are applied with the BR Remodeling Face® Machine, which helps provide immediate, visible results. The micro-current technology helps regenerate facial tissue, reach beyond the surface layer of skin to provide deep toning, stimulates facial muscles, and promote cell renewal. The combination of Biologique Recherche products and micro-currents of electricity works to provide a combination of deep cleansing and rejuvenation that reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and leaves skin looking vibrant and healthy.
A “remodeling” facial at Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa starts with a Bio Sculpt Lift & Firm session. The specific Biologique Recherche lotions and serums will be tailored to you based on what will provide your skin the best benefits. In addition to the Biologique Recherche products and the application of micro-currents of energy as mentioned above, the Paul Labrecque Bio Sculpt Lift & Firm Facial also includes a few other vital steps to help refresh your facial skin. First, we start with deep cleansing, so the nutrient-rich products can better nourish your skin. Our Bio Sculpt Lift & Firm Facial is the most comprehensive of all our facial treatment options, so you can also expect exfoliation, gentle extraction, a firming facial mask, finishing serums and prescriptive treatment, a bio-reflex massage, and intensive protective finishing creams.
You can choose to keep the skincare service strictly for your face or opt to add on hair and/or full-body skincare treatments. Try a full-body exfoliation treatment or a slimming algae wrap session for all-over skin rejuvenation. Or, if your hair has been dying for a boost, start at the roots; a cleansing and nourishing hair and scalp treatment can help improve the health of your scalp, which leads to healthier, more lustrous hair. Of course, if you aren’t sure what your skin is calling for, discuss it with your skincare specialist at Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa. We are happy to help direct you toward the best products and treatments based on your individual skincare needs.
At Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa, our skincare specialists strive to not only exfoliate and nourish your skin but to leave you with lasting skin revitalization. To that end, we keep up with the latest and best techniques for skincare and customize each treatment to what your skin needs. Learn more about our facial treatments and contact the Paul Labrecque team to schedule.
