Here, Adolfo Pliego, senior stylist at NYC's Paul Labrecque Salon, gives the lowdown on lathering right.
* Even if your hair tends to be oily, don't wash it every day - do it every other day! Hair's natural oils are healthy! If strands are very dry, cleanse twice a week max.
* Use fingertips in a circular motion to massage in shampoo. Don't use nails - they'll irritate your scalp!
* Condition every time you wash. Be sure to thoroughly coat locks from midshafts to ends, where moisture's most needed. It's unnecessary to apply at the roots unless locks were just chemically processed.
* Finally, towel-dry hair with care by patting it to remove water. Never ring it out or rub abrasively; it will only cause damage.
