20's : Blow-dry with a better brush
Keep young, healthy hair looking lovely with the right styling tools. For
the best blowout, "toss your nylon or plastic-bristle brush and try
a boar-bristle
brush instead," says NYC stylist and salon owner Paul Labrecque. "It
stores natural oils, redistributing them evenly onto the hair shaft to keep
locks looking glossy." 30's: Take time to deep treat tresses
If you're busy juggling a hectic life and pressed for time, try and
overnight treatment that takes just a minute to apply and rejuvenates
damaged hair while you sleep. "It has hours to repair damage, giving your
hair a healthier and more hydrated appearance by morning," says Labrecque.
40's: Add sparkle to colored hair
Permanent color strips hair of its natural sheen. "Products containing
silicone restore shine," notes Labrecque, "but those with alcohol will dry
locks in the long term." We like Labrecque's
Color Finish Polish & Seal Droplets, an alcohol-free silicone serum
with UV filters that stop your shade from fading. 50's: Banish dull,
frizzy locks
Frizz and dullness go hand in hand, so pick a gentle shampoo designed to
tame tresses with out stripping hair of natural oils. "Also, give hair a
final rinse with cold water to close the cuticle layer and leave locks
shinier," says Labrecque. 60's: Make gray glisten
At any age, you may have noticed a change in the texture of your tresses.
"Gray hair tends to be wiry and coarse compared with the hair of your
youth," explains Labrecque. "It also lacks elasticity, so styling stubborn
grays is difficult." 70+: Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
"As we age, sebum (an oil secreted by the scalp) production slows, making
hair weak and dull," says Labrecque. Strengthen and moisturize strands
weekly with a hair mask like
Kerastase Nutridefense.
